2. Selections
Overview
The selections tool is a powerful set of forms used to control and manage the product content on your website. This tool is intended to be used in a 4 step process.
The first step is choosing the manufacturers you would like to display on your website. Second, you choose which collections to display. Third, choose the individual items to display. Fourth, publish your selections to your site.
This tool is navigated using the buttons shown here. Clicking the Save button will save the current page. Clicking the Save>> button will save the current page and move you to the next page in the process. Above the save buttons are the Manufacturers, Collections, and Items buttons. Clicking those buttons will bring you directly to their pages. These buttons are useful for going back or skipping forward a step in the process.
Manufacturers
On this page you choose which manufacturers you would like to display on your website. There are three columns to this list: Selected, Manufacturers, and #Collections.
The Selected column contains checkboxes that show you which manufactuers have been selected. To add a new manufacturer check the box in this column. The Manufacturer column is the name of the manufacturer. The # Collections columns shows how many collections by that manufacturer are in our content library.
This list color coded. A yellow row, at the top of the list means you have selected that manufacturer. A tan row in the middle of the list is for a manufacturer you have not selected, but has content in the product library. The darker rows at the bottom are manufacturers you have not selected and who do not have content in the product library.
When you select a manufacturer and save the page your selection will also apply to all the collections and items by that manufacturer. For example, if you choose Broyhill and save the page, every Broyhill collection and item in our content library will also be chosen to display on the site. You can choose to hide specific collections in the next step, on the collections page.
Collections
The collections page is the second step in the process. On this page you can choose which collections to show on your website. This page groups the collections by manufacturer. To change which manufacturer is displayed on this page, click their name in the drop down list directly under the save buttons.
This list is organized into five columns: Collection Style, # Items, Custom Description, Append, and Hidden.
- Collection Style - This column displays the collection number for each color the collection is available in. A collection can be available in one or many colors.
- # items - Shows the number of items our product library contains for this collection
- Custom Description - You can type in your own description for this collection here.
- Append - This checkbox is used in conjunction with the Custom Description column. By default(unchecked), your description will overwrite the description in our product library. If you check the append box your description will be show along with the description in our product library.
- Hidden - Checking this box will hide the collection from your website. You can use this to hide specific colors of a collection as well.
Items
The items page gives you control over the items on your website. This page groups the items by collection. To change which collection is displayed click a collection name in the drop down list directly under the save buttons.
This page is organized into eight columns: Item, SKU, Descriptions, Append, In Stock, On Display, Featured, and Hidden
- Item - Shows a short description of the item and a link to a website where you can see what this item is.
- SKU - This column shows our item number and allows you to enter your own SKU number and price. If entered, your SKU and price will be display on your website.
- Descriptions - Here you can enter your own descriptions for this item.
Append - This checkbox is used in conjunction with the Long Description field. By default(unchecked), your description will overwrite the description in our product library. If you check the append box your description will be show along with the description in our product library. This checkbox has no effect on the min and short descriptions, which always overwrite the product library descriptions.
In Stock - Checking this box will tag the item as being in stock.
On Display - Checking this box will tag the item as being on display in one of your showrooms. You can specify which showroom using the long description field.
Featured Item - Checking this box will tag the item as a featured item.
Hidden - Checking this box will hide the item from your website.
Process
On the items page, described above, there is not a Save>> button. In its place is a Process>> button. Clicking it will save the current page and bring you to the final step in this process: publishing your selections to your website.
There is one button on this page, the Process button. Clicking it will submit your selections and publish them onto your website. Before clicking this button, be sure you are satisfied with your changes, there is not an 'undo' button and we are not able to undo your changes once they hve been submitted. Your selections will be published immediately.
